create: mk challenge

This weeks photography challenge was {create}
Kristi gave the definition so well...
create:
-make or cause to be or to become
-bring into existence
-pursue a creative activity; be engaged in a creative activity
-create by artistic means
-create or manufacture a man-made product

I think babies are the most beautiful creation.
I could only wish this baby was mine.
My sissy so kindly let me borrow her for a moment.

"a new baby is like the beginning of all things-wonder, hope a dream of possibilities"

p.s. my contribution to the creation part of this photograph is the little pink beanie.
I have recently learned how to knit (just beanies) and I'm really loving it!

Please make sure and stop by the wonderful
{life through the lens} and Savoring the Details
to see their beautiful photos!

type: mk challenge

Another challenge this week from {life through the lens} and Savoring the Details:

"type"

Once again, I loved the prompt this week.
Type can take you in so many directions.
Type=Words
Words make you feel a certain way, they can take you on an adventure,
they can give you direction, they can warn you, I could go on and on.

My eyes have been peeled this week looking for something to photograph
that represents my life right now.

Most people look at a speed limit sign and we register: Slow Down.
This is just what I needed at this moment.
I need to slow down.
I need to almost stop.
I really need to take a breath.
I feel like time is racing by and I am sweating the small stuff.
I need to take time to be with my husband.
I need to hug more people.
I need to do more things that count.

"Slow down and enjoy life. It's not only the scenery you miss by going to fast-
you miss the sense of where your going and why"

This will be my new friendly reminder.

diptych challenge: friday night

The current diptych challenge that me and Kamill did was:
Friday Night

I love how we both took photos of something we like to do with our loved ones.
She has Friday Night BBQ's with her family (she has a weekly themed menu! Awesome!)
While, I like to go to movies (even though I don't go as much as I used to)
with my husband. I look forward to Friday Nights every week, maybe just because
I know Saturday is the next day and I can sleep in!
What do you do with your Friday Nights?

Mine is on the left and Kamill Knudsen Photography on the right!
Enjoy :)

back to school time: mk challenge

This week over at {life through the lens} and Savoring the Details,
the photography challenge was:
Back to School Time!

Well, since I'm not in school, nor do I have children in school,
I decide to spot light one of my favorite things when I was in school.

In high school I had the most amazing art teacher.
He taught me so much about being an artist and about being myself.
I think being a true artist is being yourself.
I learned about who I was and how to portray that through my artwork...
And now through my photography.
I think during the 4 years that I had classes from him
I really developed my creativity and my love for all things artistic.
My high school art set-Where it all began.

life is beautiful: mk challenge

This week at {life through the lens} and Savoring the Details, the photo prompt was:
"Life is Beautiful"
The things that make life beautiful aren't physical things that we "see",
they are things that are felt with the heart.
Love. Joy. Happiness. Sadness.
If we are feeling, we are living.
To me, that is beautiful.

journey: mk challenge

This week at {life through the lens} and Savoring the Details the photo challenge was the word "journey".

"Success is not a place at which one arrives but rather the spirit with
which one undertakes and continues the journey"-alex noble

I am so grateful for the journey in which my ancestors went on so that
I can live a life full of freedom and truth.

red: mk challenge

This week on {life through the lens} the photo challenge was "your favorite color".
Anyone who knows me, knows what it is.
red:
Red has more personal associations than any other color.
Recognized as a stimulant red is inherently exciting and the amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived.
Red draws attention and a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element.

How the color red affects us mentally and physically:
* Increases enthusiasm
* Stimulates energy
* Encourages action and confidence
* A sense of protection from fears and anxiety

So, all of you now know...i heart red.

diptych challenge: soft

I got inspired by my SIL Kristi to start doing these diptych challenges.
Me and my other SIL Kamill started one together.

What is diptych photography?
A diptych is a photograph that uses two different or identical images
side by side to form one single artistic statement. The two images can literally
be in contact with each other, or separated by a border or frame.

Each week we will have a theme, word or phrase to use as our individual inspiration.
This week our inspiration was the word "Soft".
My image is the one on the left, Kamill's on the right. See more of Kamill's work HERE.
