something you cannot live without: mk challenge

The photography challenge this week was:
Photograph something you cannot live without

I have owned a camera as long as I can remember.
I remember a neon pink plastic camera that printed a cartoon character on your image.
I remember my first digital camera.
Countless disposable cameras.
My elph camera given to me by my hubs.
My nikon that I saved for forever.

There is always something about a photograph that grabs me.
It is as if time freezes for that one single moment.
Photographs tell a story.
Photographs show history.
Photographs show love.
Every time I see something unique or emotional,
I think
where is my camera!

This camera that I photographed belonged to my Dad.
My mom told me she gave it to my dad
the first Christmas they were married.
It makes me happy to know my dad loved cameras,
and now, so does my mom.

remember to stop by my friends blogs:

hope you all have a haunting halloween!

vintage: mk challenge

This weeks photography challenge was: Vintage

I love all things vintage and antique inspired but I honestly
don't own many items that are true vintage.

One thing that I do have is this antique skeleton key.
This key is very dear to my heart.
It came to me from my grandpa.
My gramps is a collector.
A collector of clocks, locks, watches, keys, coins...(the list goes on)
On occasion, I will stay with him while I travel for work.
A few years back, I had to give a big presentation to the CEO of my company.
I don't do well with speaking in front of people.
The night before my flight out I was camped out at my grandparents.
I don't know if my grandpa could sense my nerves
but he said he had a good luck charm for me.
That is when he gave me my skeleton key,
which at one point in time was my great great grandmas house key.
I put it on a chain and wore it around my neck during
my presentation and it couldn't of gone better.
It now hangs it my home to bring good luck to me and my family.

Do you love vintage?
My friends do.

If I am half as lucky as Lynds and Tyler,
my future children will inherit some of these baby blues.

quiet: mk challenge

The challenge this week was the word {quiet}
I don't know why, but this was a hard week.
I had a few ideas but nothing seemed to fit just perfectly.

As I was contemplating, I remembered a few weeks ago when our power went out.
Even in a quiet house, we still have the hum of the refrigerator,
the water running in the dishwasher, the clanking of the dryer,
the fan in the PC, the AC kicking on and off, the TV, and many other sounds.
But when there is no electricity, there is silence.
Pure quietness.

I forget how nice that dead silence is.
Me and the Man lit some candles and enjoyed some good
conversation and some
quiet time together.

What does quiet mean to you?
Stop by my friends and see:
